On Friday the 16th June in the Youghal GAA pitch on Top of the Hill 6 teams gathered on the beautiful sunny evening to play the finals of this years Parish Leagues. The teams were marched onto the field behind Youghal Pipe Band piper Christy McCarthy who then played the National Anthem when all players were lined up facing our National Flag.
The first game of the evening was the” O’Foghlu Cup” between Copperally and the Town Walls under the watchful eye of referee Cian Butler.This was a close game and at half time both sides were a goal apiece but in the second half with a strong sun advantage Copperally pushed forward and got that vital second goal to run out winners in the end.
The second game was as exciting as the first with both teams facing off for the “Dan Coleman Cup” Clockgate were facing Boardwalk under the watchful eye of referee Brian O’Driscoll, again like the first game it was a goal a piece at half time but then in the second half Clockgate pulled ahead adding 4 goals to Boardwalks 1 point finishing 5-0 to 1-1
The final game of the evening was the “Padraig Paw Paw Coyne Cup” and referee was Josh Varian this time we saw Lighthouse play Cork Hill in a close encounter with both sides fighting for every ball. The final score on the evening saw the Lighthouse team win out over Corkhill on a score of 3-2 to 2-0.
After the three finals the players lined up and collected their medals and Cups before heading into the pavilion for refreshments. Well done to all on the night below are some photos taken on the evening.
