Lord Mayors Cup Hurling Finals 2019

On Tuesday 9th April 2019 the Finals of the Hurling section of the Lord Mayors Cup took place in Pairc Ui Rinn. With 3 hurling finals on offer it was a great day of hurling for the Post Primary Schools in Cork with 6 teams contesting the finals.

A – Final Midleton CBS A v Hamilton High School Bandon

B – Final Colaiste Choilm Ballincollig v Coláiste an Spioraid Naoimh Cork

C – Final Midleton CBS B v St. Colmans Community College Midleton

Our First Final of the day was the B Final between Colaiste Choilm Ballincollig v Coláiste an Spioraid Naoimh Cork.

At 11am referee Andrew Larking threw in the ball.  Colaiste Choilm Ballincollig were very much on top throughout the first half going in at the break with the half-time score at 0.10 – 0.05 to Coláiste Choilm but Coláiste an Spioraid Naoimh rallied in the second half and the match and started to get more scores drawing level and for the last quarter it was point for point with the full time score ending in a draw 0.15 – 0.15 apiece.

The winners were to be decided on 65′s. The best of 3, but it stayed level and went to sudden death, taking a total nine 65.s each before Dylan McSweeney took the final 65, scored and secured victory for C.S.N.

Well done to both teams for playing a very sporting and brilliant game of hurling.
Congratulations to the winners of the B section of the Lord Mayors Cup with thanks to Lord Mayor Cllr Mick Finn who presented the winning team with their trophy after the game.
