108 sporting clubs and organisations across Cork city and county have benefitted from a share of €37 million in Government funding.  €4,186,348 in total has been granted to clubs across Cork.  Nationally, 994 different projects and 37 different sports have benefitted from the funding. The Donal Power Cup in Midleton CBS

The first Donal Power Cup PPS U14 Hurling  tournament took place in Midleton CBS today the 16th May. Donal, a past teacher in Midleton CBS was a fan of all sports, but he loved all things hurling and GAA games. In a fitting tribute his wife Maura, and his daughters Niamh & Ailish were present to present the Cup at the end of the proceedings in Midleton CBS. Teacher, Seamus Murphy from Midleton CBS spoke about Donal and the work he had done in the school and that today was a fitting tribute to the man and his family to see all the young hurlers from the different schools take to the pitches and play fast, intense and exciting hurling.

Cork GAA and Rebel Óg launched an exciting new competition for U 14 players this week in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Under this new structure, eight regional teams will form two groups of four teams to play in a league format with the next phase of the competition pitting the top two teams in each group in to the Cup with the third and fourth placed teams entering the Shield. Rebel Óg Coaching is the body responsible for coaching and games development in Cork. The group is headed by County Coaching Officer Ronan Dwane along with Full Time Staff led by Kevin O Callaghan as Games Manager and 6 Games Development Administrators. This group help to support the volunteers around the county at Primary School, Post Primary and Club level through hands on coaching sessions, organising games programmes and education of coaches. The GDA’s also have a hand’s on role in the Regional Development Squad programme.With the 2018 season at an end, there has been a huge amount of activity over the past 12 months. Monster Blitzes, Mini Leagues, Development Squads and Cúl Camps Coach Education, Coaching in our schools, Workshops, Courses were all in full flow.
