Munster U17 Football Semi-Final Cork v Limerick – 2/5/17

Munster U17 Football Semi-Final Cork v Limerick –  Tuesday 2nd May in Pairc Ui Rinn

Cork 5-18 V Limerick 1-6

In a very one sided game Cork came out winners in Pairc Ui Rinn against Limerick in
the Munster U17 Footbal semi final. Right from the start Cork attacked Limerick and
within the first min had their first point on the board. For the next 5 mins Limerick
held Cork out but then the Cork wave of attacks lead to their second score on 6 mins.

By the 10 min Cork were 1-4 to no score ahead after dispatching a penalty into the back
of the Limerick net. Limerick responded with a point of their own from the kick out but
over the next five mins Cork once again struck for their second goal and added a point
to put them firmly in the lead on the 15 min mark with a score of 2-5 to 0-1 ahead.

Again Limerick responded well getting 2 unanswered points before Cork added another and
by the end of the first half, Cork had scored another goal to put them well in the lead
at the half time break on a scoreline of Cork 3-8 to Limericks 0-5

The second half didnt go any better for Limerick when Cork were awarded their second penalty
5 mins into the second half. Within 15 mins of the second half Cork added another goal and
were now leading by 5-10 to Limericks 0-6. With 10 mins to go Limerick got a goal to add to
their score but Cork kept adding points and by the end of the game Cork game out easy winners
on a score of Cork 5-18 to Limericks 1-6.

This is the second game in a row that Cork have dominated in having beaten Waterford by
6-24 to 0-1 and it wont be an easy final with Kerry having dispatched Tipperary in the other
Semi Final in Austin Stack Park Tralee, on a score of Kerry 3-11 to Tipperarys 1-6.

A big well done to Killavullen and Mitchelstown who lined out 2 teams each of 10 aside to entertain the crown in Pairc Ui Rinn during the half time break of the Cork Limerick Munster Semi Final. It was great to see the stars of the future lining out on the pitch and some great football was on display from both clubs. After the final had ended the young players got to go on the field and meet the Cork team and get some photos taken with their own club men, thanks to all in Pairc Ui Rinn and to all players, mentors and parents who brought these fine young players along to give a great display of football to everyone.
