The blitzes are for under 12 club teams and will be 11 a side. Each club will get the chance to play 3 games on the pitch against teams from other counties as well as a talk with a county player and a stadium tour.
This initiative is in its 7th year and has been a very enjoyable day out for the clubs that have taken part in the past.
The dates for the blitzes are as follows
July 18th/19th/20th : Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney (Football Blitzes)
July 22nd : Gaelic Grounds, Limerick (Hurling Blitzes)
July 25th/26th/27th : Semple Stadium, Thurles (Hurling Blitzes)
We would encourage all clubs to apply for participation in at least 1 venue however as it is a great opportunity for boys to play in the same stadium as their idols. The games are about participation rather than winning and give coaches the opportunity to give all squad members a day to remember for the rest of their lives.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Times are the Blitzes Run?
All events take place during working hours. If clubs are signing up then they will need to ensure they have mentors available to travel in the morning/early afternoon.
How Long Will the Event Take?
Typically clubs would want to allow 3 hours from assigned arrival time. You have 1 hour playing time on the pitch and another hour allocated to the stadium tour/intercounty player meet and greet session.
Are the Teams Graded?
Clubs are not graded officially but Munster will try to ensure that clubs of similar size are put in the same groups where possible. As it is a fun blitz, grading should not put you off entering.
How Many Players Are Permitted Per Club?
As games are 11 a side, clubs should not bring more than 24 players as otherwise, it will be very hard to get them all game time.
