On Thursday 9th May in Pairc Ui Rinn the Football finals of the Lord Mayors Cup took place.
We started the day with our C Final at 11am Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal Blarney v Bandon Grammer School. Both teams having come through their group sections held in Carrigaline GAA Club 11th April 2019

Referee for this game was Niall O Neill who threw the ball in and started proceedings for the day. This game saw Bandon Grammer School go into an early lead which they held onto throughout the game and at half time were well ahead on the score board.
At the start of the second half Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal Blarney started to make a comeback socring 2 quick goals but it was not enough to overtake their opposition who held onto their lead till the final whistle
Captain Sam Golden Final received the Shield from Paudi O’Brien GDA who was also the main coordinator for the Lord Mayors Cup. Well done to Bandon Grammer School who won out winners in the end on a score 8-6 to 3-10.
The second game of the day saw Presentation Brothers College v Christian Brothers College with both teams having come through their group stages held in Ballygarvan GAA Club on 11th April

At 12.30pm the referee for this game Andrew Larkin, threw in the ball and like the first game Christian Brothers College Cork went into an early lead which they held for the whole game. When the match was over Paudie O’Brien made a presentation of the Shield to captain Robert Dillon. the final score in this game which had plenty of goals was 7-16 to 3-11
The final game in our Lord Mayors Cup today was the A final.
With both teams having come through their group in Ballincollig to face off in the A final in Pairc Ui Rinn. This game saw Coláiste Chríost Rí v De La Salle Macroom and at 2pm referee Chris Broderick threw in the whistle. This was a fast exciting game of football with both sides getting great scores. But when the final whistle came Colaiset De las Salle Macroom came out winners on a scoreline of 4-16 to 4-9. The Lord Mayor Cllr Mick Finn presented the cup to the winning captain.
A big thank you and well done to all the schools who took part in our Lord Mayors Cup Football and Hurling games this year. it was great to see so many schools involved. Well done to the staff at Pairc Ui Rinn where the pitch was in fine order for the finals in both hurling and football. To the main orgainser Paudie O’Brien for all his work we say thank you.
