Lord Mayors Cup Football Finals 15/5/17

The Lord Mayors Cup Football finals took place in Pairc Ui Rinn on Monday May 15th. Having run off our play off games earlier on this month in Ballincollig, Bishopstown and Mayfield the last 6 teams through to the finals faced off in three games in Pairc Ui Rinn starting off at 11am.

Noel Crowley one of the main organisers of this event said that this was a great competition to help schools prepare senior teams for competitions in both Hurling and Football for the 2017/2018 season. “We had a look at what was on offer for schools at this time of the year and felt it would be a good chance for the schools to take part so we opened it to all schools in the county and we were delighted with the response from all those who took part. It is very positive going forward and many of the schools, players and mentors we spoke with after the games agreed that this competition was a great way of looking at players in the schools.”

The competition is a joint project between Cork GAA, Rebel Og and Cork Post Primary Schools
and is organised by the coaching staff, headed up by GPO Noel Crowley. The qualifying rounds
were played over six days, with hurling finals fixed for Pairc Ui Rinn on Fri May 12th, followed by the Football finals on Monday the 15th May in Pairc Ui Rinn.
