(i) Rebel Óg Coaching Benchmarks 2020

Many thanks to the 58 clubs listed below that have registered for Rebel Óg Coaching Benchmarks this year. Registration will take just a few moments and the deadline for this year’s programme has been extended to this Friday, April 15th for any other clubs who wish to register.

Meanwhile, 8 Cork clubs who were accredited in 2015 were lucky enough to grace the hallowed Croke Park turf for U12 Blitz days last week. The 4 football clubs were Whites Cross, Kanturk, Lee Gaels and St James, with Crosshaven, Ballinascarthy, Lisgoold and Fermoy lining out in hurling. The clubs had 1 hour playing time on the pitch followed by a museum and stadium tour which proved very popular. The Coaching Benchmarks Initiative is the only way for clubs to gain selection for the 2016 Croke Park Blitz Days.


(ii) Monster Blitzes sponsored by National Dairy Council

The Monster Blitz programme for 2016 was recently launched at Blackrock Castle. See details here

While the previous weekends’ activities have been disrupted due to weather it is hoped to get back on track with U8 hurling next Saturday.

(iii) Coach Education  

With all coaches now consumed by on-field activities the coach education programme has concluded until it resumes next October. For the six months from October 1st to March 31st 500 coaches attended Foundation courses at 33 venues, while 160 coaches progressed to Award 1 level across 8 venues. Meanwhile, 25 coaches progressed to Award 2 level at a county-wide course at Pairc Ui Rinn while over 500 students completed Transition year coaching courses at post primary level. Finally, a total attendance of 1200 coaches attended the 22 coaching workshops organised throughout the county.

(v) Munster Super 10’s U15

Entries are now being accepted for U15 10 a-side competitions on May 28th, with winners proceeding to a finals day on June 11th. The deadline for entries is April 22nd.

(vi) Rebel Og Academy 

At U17 level a third and final trial takes place on this Saturday, with football trials to follow over the next few weeks.  At U14, U15 & U16 extended county panels are now in place ahead of this Saturday’s academy date, before the naming of the official summer panels of 48 in early May.

At U13 level, all registered players will be called to regional sessions on Tuesday, May 3rd.

(vii) Rebel Og Golf Classic 

On May 5th and 6th, clubs are asked to swap their hurley’s and footballs for their golf clubs and participate in the 2016 Rebel Og Golf Classic.

This year, Rebel Óg are delighted to announce that Lee Valley Golf and Country Club will host the Classic. The proceeds of the golf classic will be used to fund the Rebel Óg Academy and its development squads.
