You may, or may not, be aware that the Central Region and the former Coiste committee have now combined into one committee as part of a change in structures.
The four regions – North, East, West and Mid-South – remain as is and will be responsible for running competitions in their respective areas.
The Central Region is now under the Coiste committee and the new chairman is Michael O’Mahony.
As part of the new structure a CCC has been formed and that will be chaired by vice-chairman of Coiste. All regions will have representation on that committee.
In a significant move for underage GAA affairs in Cork, Shane Supple has been appointed as full-time Runaí and general administrator for Cork juvenile GAA and has taken over the role fulfilled by Donal Whooley and Jim Healy in recent years.
Shane will be involved in many aspects of underage affairs, from grading to fixtures, and will be part of the Coiste committee, where all the major decisions will be made under chairman Michael O’Mahony. Shane will still be involved in running Coach Education and Cul Camps he headed up in his previous role as Games Development Administrator.
Donal O’Leary is assistant secretary of Coiste and will work closely with Shane, particularly on competitions under that committee.
Other notable appointments are Eoghan O’Connor as treasurer, Martin O’Brien as assistant treasurer. Diarmuid Kirwan is the new referees’ secretary and Rory Noonan is PRO.
This new Coiste committee has met several times and all are looking forward to helping progress underage games and structures over the coming season and years.
The committee intend to communicate through the regions and clubs, as well as the website, to keep all up to date on underage happenings across the county.
